Hiring Alert: Lead Associate Opportunity in West Tennessee
Stavely Dental is growing and hiring.
When Dr. Teresa Stavely graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry in 1995, she moved to Dyersburg, a growing community in West Tennessee, 90 minutes north of Memphis.
“My husband was a few years ahead of me in dental school, and he found an associate opportunity in Dyersburg when he graduated.
When it was my turn to find a job, I looked around Dyersburg and found a general dentistry practice for sale.
And I bought it.
It was terrifying at the time, but it worked out well.”
- Dr. Teresa Stavely
It takes courage to buy a dental practice.
Even more if you’re a new dental school grad.
More still if you have student loan debt (and she did).
… and even more than that if you’ll be the only woman dentist in town.
But Dr. Teresa Stavely never lacked courage.
Armed with ambition, confidence, and clinical competence, she soon earned the respect of her patients, neighbors, and the other 9 dentists in town (all men).
Dr. Stavely’s new practice was located at 1510 Woodlawn, around the corner from her husband and across the street from a respected dentist who had practiced for decades.
When the older dentist across the street retired and sold his practice, he became a patient of Dr. Stavely.
Then another dentist from a nearby community became a patient too.
Over time, she became the dentist chosen by other dentists.
“I think some of the dentists in town scheduled appointments with me out of curiousity… these guys had never seen a 26-year old woman dentist with french braids.
They came out of curiousity, and they stayed because I was good.”
- Dr. Teresa Stavely
Her reputation grew, and it wasn’t long before more and more dentists were referring patients to Dr. Stavely because of her proficiency with composites and cosmetic cases.
One of the most profitable general dentistry practices in Tennessee
Ten years in, Dr. Stavely’s practice was growing and profitable.
She built a solid team committed to excellent dentistry and operations.
Then she built a new building at 1911 Cook St, with 8 operatories and enough room for two dentists.
Today, Dr. Stavely’s practice is booked 3 months in advance, with 2,100 active patients and 25 new patients per month.
They did $1.8M in collections in 2023, working out of just 5 of their 8 operatories.
Now we’re recruiting a new associate to join Dr. Stavely and her team.
“I’ve learned a lot in two decades of practice, and I’m ready to help an associate enjoy the success I have.
We have good processes, a reliable team, and a facility with room for another dentist.
I’m proud of our reputation in the community.
We’re ready to take our practice to the next level, and we’re looking for the right associate to step in and help us do just that.”
- Dr. Teresa Stavely
